Gaudreau’s two goals fuel Kraken’s four-goal second period in 6–3 win
Detroit led twice, but Seattle scored four times in the second period and pulled away after a three-goal burst lasting just over three minutes.

Frederick Gaudreau scored twice in the second period as the Seattle Kraken beat the Detroit Red Wings 6–3 at Little Caesars Arena on Friday, October 9. Seattle moved to 3–2–0, while Detroit fell to 1–3–0.
Detroit led 1–0 and 2–1, but the game turned when Seattle scored three goals in 3:05 during the second period. A fourth Kraken goal later in the period sent starting goalie John Gibson to the bench.
Detroit built the early pressure
Viktor Arvidsson opened the scoring on a first-period power play at 9:19. Berkly Catton tied the game at 14:52, even though Detroit had controlled much of the opening period.
William Wallinder restored Detroit’s lead at 4:00 of the second with his first NHL goal. That 2–1 advantage lasted only 39 seconds.
Three Seattle goals changed the game in 3:05
Gaudreau tied the score after taking Ryan Winterton’s pass from behind the net. Mackie Samoskevich gave Seattle the lead at 6:59, and Gaudreau scored again at 7:44.
Gaudreau’s linemates helped drive the burst: Winterton assisted on both of his goals, while Ben Meyers had the secondary assist on each. Meyers then scored later in the period to make it 5–2.
The third period completed the 6–3 score
Vince Dunn scored during a two-man advantage in the third period to extend Seattle’s lead to 6–2. Michael Brandsegg-Nygard then scored his first NHL goal for Detroit to set the final score.
The sources disagree on Philipp Grubauer’s exact save total, reporting either 37 or 38. This article therefore does not state a save count; all three reports agree that he helped Seattle withstand Detroit’s stronger start.
What comes next
The AP lists Seattle’s next game at Washington on Sunday and Detroit’s next game at Montreal on Saturday. These are upcoming fixtures, separate from Friday’s completed result.
