Mackie Samoskevich scored twice as Seattle beat Calgary 6–1 at Climate Pledge Arena on Sunday, October 4. The Kraken built their lead early and reached the second intermission ahead 5–0. This was Seattle's home opener, three days after another 6–1 victory over the Flames in Calgary.

Three goals before the eight-minute mark

Catton opened the scoring at 2:22 of the first period. Samoskevich followed at 4:40, and Bobby McMann made it 3–0 at 7:40. Seattle had established its three-goal advantage before the first period was halfway through.

Those clocks show elapsed time within the period. The goals were separated by 2:18 and 3:00, so the opening burst unfolded across several minutes.

Samoskevich doubles up before the second intermission

Shane Wright added Seattle's fourth goal at 11:58 of the second period. Samoskevich scored again at 19:34, leaving Calgary five goals behind with one period remaining.

Frost broke through at 14:25 of the third, but Eberle restored the five-goal margin at 15:04. Seattle finished with five different scorers, with Samoskevich supplying the only two-goal performance.

The shot totals tell a different part of the game

Calgary put six more shots on goal than Seattle. Daccord stopped 32 of 33, while Wolf stopped 21 of 27 at the other end. Calgary led in shots on goal; Seattle led in goals.

A shot on goal is counted whether it goes in or is saved. Subtracting saves from shots gives the goals conceded: 33 minus 32 for Daccord, and 27 minus 21 for Wolf. That arithmetic explains the score, but shot counts alone do not measure chance quality or assign responsibility for individual goals.

The same score in two separate meetings

Thursday's 6–1 was the season opener in Calgary; Sunday's was Seattle's first home game. The result takes the Kraken to 2–1–0 and leaves the Flames 0–3–0. Matching scorelines should not obscure the different dates and venues.
