Black Clover Season 2 returns with new theme videos and an October 9 watch-along
The new opening and ending videos followed the Japanese premiere. Subaru’s episode-one watch-along will carry no anime picture or sound, so viewers need a separate episode source.

Black Clover returned to Japanese television on Saturday, October 3, with the start of its new Season 2 run and the subsequent release of two official theme-sequence videos. The production website also announced an Oozora Subaru watch-along for October 9. For anyone planning to join, the practical detail is that her YouTube channel will not carry the anime’s pictures or sound: viewers need their own separate access to episode one.
What arrived after the October 3 premiere
The official production notice confirms that the new television run began at 11 p.m. Japan Standard Time on October 3, or 14:00 UTC. Anime Corner and ComicBook independently reported the return and the release of the opening and ending sequences after the premiere. The new development is the start of the regular TV run and publication of those videos; earlier preview screenings had already shown the first episode to some audiences.
The opening uses WANIMA’s “Kienai Riyu,” while ONE OR EIGHT performs the ending, “Yellow Brick Road.” Both official video links are collected in the production announcement. Their “creditless” label means the versions omit on-screen staff credits. It describes the presentation of the theme sequences, rather than promising a particular language-subtitle option or access to a complete episode.
The October 9 event is a companion stream
Oozora Subaru, the Hololive performer, is scheduled to revisit episode one with viewers on Friday, October 9, at 9 p.m. JST. The production notice directs viewers to the Subaru Ch. YouTube channel. That start corresponds to 12:00 UTC, 8 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time and 5 a.m. Pacific Time on the same Friday.
The announcement explicitly says that the anime’s video and audio will not be transmitted on that channel. Subaru’s stream supplies the shared viewing experience; the episode must play from a separate source available to the viewer. Opening the YouTube event alone therefore will not provide the episode.
Prepare the episode before joining the watch-along
Before the event begins, find the returning 2026 season and its first episode on a licensed service available in your country. Check that the episode opens under your account and that the audio and subtitle choices suit you. Keep that player ready alongside Subaru’s channel, then follow the host’s instructions for starting or synchronizing playback. The announcement does not specify a universal playback-offset method.
Anime Corner and ComicBook identify Crunchyroll as the streamer for the new season, with ComicBook’s coverage including North America. A service’s local catalog and account requirements still determine what a particular viewer can play. The Japanese television start, the official short-video links and the companion broadcast are separate listings; none establishes a single worldwide full-episode release time.
Episode two has a different date and time
The same official notice places episode two’s Japanese TV airing on Saturday, October 10, at 11 p.m. JST. That is 14:00 UTC, 10 a.m. U.S. Eastern and 7 a.m. Pacific on October 10. The Subaru event is the previous day and concerns episode one, so it should not be mistaken for the second episode’s premiere.
Treat those converted clocks as the times of the named Japanese TV broadcast or companion event. They are not promises about when an overseas service will upload an episode or make a particular dub available. Check the current official announcement and your service’s listing before watching, because future schedules can change.
Where this return fits in the series
The previous Black Clover television run comprised 170 episodes and aired from 2017 to 2021. The new material is officially presented as Season 2, with Studio Pierrot producing it and Ayataka Tanemura returning as director. The long gap explains the emphasis on a return, but it does not make the newly posted opening and ending videos a substitute for watching the story.
The October 3 production announcement establishes the new videos and the two upcoming viewing dates. It does not establish a complete season episode count or an English-dub launch date. For now, the useful distinction is between the theme videos available through official links, the actual episodes on licensed services, and the October 9 companion stream that requires a separate episode player.
