Alaska plans Anchorage–Tokyo nonstop from May 2027: dates and booking limits

Daily summer flights to Narita are planned from May 13, with a separate winter restart in January 2028. The advertised $999 round trip has a shorter travel window.

Alaska Airlines announced on October 27 that it plans nonstop Anchorage–Tokyo Narita service from May 13, 2027, subject to government approval. The airline has opened ticket sales for a Boeing 737 MAX 8 route with daily summer flights and a separate three-times-weekly winter season beginning in January 2028.

Travelers need to distinguish the fare-sale deadline, the summer operating dates and the winter restart. An announcement that tickets are on sale does not establish uninterrupted year-round service.

Read the two directions on their own local calendars

The published summer timetable has AS021 leave Anchorage at 2:10 p.m. and reach Narita at 3:25 p.m. the next day. AS022 leaves Narita at 9:45 p.m. and arrives in Anchorage at noon on the same local date. The dates cross time zones and the international date line; subtracting the displayed clock times is not a flight-duration calculation.

Anchorage departures run from May 13 through September 7, 2027. Narita departures run from May 14 through September 8. The winter plan begins in January 2028 at three flights a week. Check the actual itinerary before booking an autumn trip or arranging a hotel night around the next-day arrival.

The $999 offer covers only part of the summer

Alaska advertises introductory round trips from $999 when bought October 27–31 for Anchorage–Narita travel May 13–June 7, 2027. A round-trip purchase is required and availability is limited; the price is not a promise for every departure or the whole summer season.

Compare both flight dates and the full checkout total, then read the selected fare's baggage, change and cancellation conditions. Keep the offer's purchase window separate from its travel window. This report has not checked a personal booking or confirmed inventory at the advertised starting price.

Check the aircraft and any onward connection

The announced aircraft is a 737 MAX 8. Alaska describes reclining First Class seats, not lie-flat suites. It also describes complimentary meals in Main Cabin and Premium Class. Its Starlink wording covers selected flights as installation continues, so Wi-Fi should not be assumed on every departure.

Alaska Public Media's airport reporting also confirms Saturday routes from Anchorage to Austin, Nashville and Dallas–Fort Worth from June 12 to August 7, 2027. Those separate domestic schedules are not daily extensions of the Tokyo flight. Any connection needs to be checked as an actual offered itinerary.
