Walmart recalls 4.4 million Expert Grill brushes: models and refund steps

Walmart is recalling five Expert Grill brush products because wire bristles can detach, remain on a grill or food, and be swallowed. Check the model number, stop using a matching brush and follow Walmart’s refund or credit instructions.

Walmart has recalled about 4.48 million Expert Grill brushes sold in the United States after regulators warned that steel wire bristles can detach during use. A loose bristle can remain on the cooking surface or stick to food and may cause serious internal injury if swallowed.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notice, recall number 27-010, covers five model numbers sold between January 2021 and August 2026. The immediate task is to find the model number on the product or packaging and compare it with the list below; appearance alone is not a reliable match.

Consumers with a matching product should stop using it immediately and contact Walmart for a refund or credit. The recall notice says no incidents or injuries had been reported when it was issued, but that does not make continued use safe.

The five recalled model numbers

The recall covers model EX5607031616002, a 16-inch steel-fiber scrub brush with a scraper, sold from January 2025 through August 2026; and model EX5607031616003, a handheld steel-fiber brush, sold during the same period.

It also covers model XG1310700206, a 21-inch three-head brush sold from January 2022 through August 2026, and model XG1136178597003, a 17.7-inch long-handle brush with a scraper sold from January 2021 through August 2026.

The fifth item is model XG1410700124, a 10-piece grill tool set sold from December 2023 through August 2026. The CPSC says the recalled products cost between about $1 and $28.

How to check a brush without guessing

Look for the model number on the brush, its handle, packaging or purchase record. Match every character against the official list; do not rely only on color, length or the number of brush heads.

If the model number cannot be found, set the brush aside while you check an order history, receipt or product page. Walmart’s general recall page directs customers to return affected products to a Walmart store for a full refund unless the specific recall gives different instructions.

A product that looks similar but carries a different model number is not identified by this notice. Keep that distinction clear rather than treating every Expert Grill tool as recalled.

Why use must stop now

The hazard is not simply that the brush may wear out. A detached steel bristle can be hard to see after it sticks to grill grates or food, creating an ingestion hazard at the next meal.

The CPSC says swallowed bristles can cause serious internal injury and may require surgery. A visual inspection after brushing cannot guarantee that every detached strand has been found.

No incidents or injuries were reported in the recall notice. That figure describes reports received by the publication date; it is not a finding that the product is safe to keep using.

Refund or credit: the practical next steps

Stop using a matching brush and keep the product, model information and proof of purchase together if available. Do not resume use while waiting for a response.

Contact Walmart through the instructions in the official recall notice to receive a refund or credit. The notice says consumers may be directed to return the product to a Walmart store or discard it, so follow the option Walmart gives for the exact product.

Use the CPSC recall number 27-010 and the model number when asking for help. Save any confirmation or store receipt so you can show that the remedy was completed.
