Robertson scores twice as Stars beat Islanders 6–3 for fifth straight win
Dallas turned a 3–3 game into a three-goal third period. Jason Robertson’s breakaway supplied the decisive cushion and extended his multipoint streak to four games.

The Dallas Stars beat the New York Islanders 6–3 on October 25, scoring three unanswered goals in the third period to extend their winning streak to five games.
Jason Robertson scored twice. Wyatt Johnston’s goal at 4:10 of the third broke a 3–3 tie, Robertson added a breakaway at 9:45, and Mikko Rantanen closed the scoring at 13:02.
A tied game changed quickly in the third
The first two periods produced three ties. Johnston moved into the slot and scored at 4:10 of the third to make it 4–3. Robertson converted a breakaway 5:35 later, and Rantanen scored at 13:02 for the final margin. Reuters and the NHL recap independently agree on that sequence.
Robertson’s second goal created the cushion
Robertson had already scored in the first period after forcing a turnover. His third-period breakaway made it 5–3, the first two-goal lead of the night, and completed his two-goal performance. The NHL reported eight points across his four-game multipoint streak.
Dallas generated more of the dangerous transition play
The score was even after two periods, but the Islanders acknowledged giving up too many rush chances. Dallas converted that space through its top forwards and finished with 38 shots on goal to New York’s 20, a gap reflected in Sorokin’s 32 saves and Oettinger’s 17.
Schaefer’s milestone came in a loss
Nineteen-year-old Matthew Schaefer tied the game 1–1 and reached 25 career goals, passing Bobby Orr for second-most by a teenage NHL defenseman. The individual milestone did not prevent New York’s five-game point streak from ending.
What the result establishes
Dallas has won five straight and improved to 7–3–1, while New York fell to 5–4–2. The game demonstrates Dallas’s third-period execution and transition threat; it does not by itself establish how either club will perform over the full season.
