Stars blank Blackhawks 4–0: Hyry scores twice and Oettinger stops all 19 shots
Arttu Hyry recorded his first NHL multigoal game and Jake Oettinger earned his third shutout of the season as Dallas scored twice in both the second and third periods.

The Dallas Stars beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4–0 at United Center on October 17. Arttu Hyry scored twice for the first multigoal game of his NHL career, while Jake Oettinger stopped all 19 shots for his third shutout of the season.
Dallas did not score in the first period, then built the win in two clean steps: Jason Robertson and Hyry scored in the second, and Hyry and Roope Hintz added third-period goals. The Stars finished with a 32–19 edge in shots and denied all four Chicago power plays.
A scoreless first period changed quickly
Chicago goaltender Spencer Knight and Oettinger kept the first period scoreless. Robertson broke through on a Dallas power play in the second period, and Hyry doubled the margin before the intermission. Knight finished with 28 saves.
Hyry scored again 1:27 into the third, beating the defense to the net and lifting a backhand high. Hintz completed the scoring from the left faceoff circle midway through the period.
Why Hyry’s two goals matter
The two-goal night was Hyry’s first multigoal game in the NHL. Reuters reported that he had totaled three goals in 25 NHL games over the previous two seasons; after Saturday, he had already matched that total through eight games this season.
That comparison gives the performance context without turning eight games into a season forecast. The confirmed result is a career-first two-goal game inside a 4–0 road win.
Oettinger’s clean sheet had help in front
Oettinger saved all 19 Chicago shots for his third shutout in six appearances this season. He did not face more than eight shots in any period, and Chicago finished 0-for-4 on the power play.
The shutout was not only a goaltending statistic. Dallas limited the shot total, killed every penalty and carried a 32–19 advantage in shots. Oettinger still supplied the last layer, including a point-blank save on Cole Smith with about six minutes left.
What changed—and what remains open
Dallas won its second straight game and improved to 4–3–1, including a 4–1–1 run over its past six. Chicago fell to 3–6–0 after entering with two consecutive wins.
The AP report said Hintz left late with a right-hand injury, but the three full reports did not provide a diagnosis, recovery timetable or next-game availability. Dallas is scheduled to host Boston on Tuesday, while Chicago is scheduled to host Montreal on Friday; lineup status should be checked closer to those games.
