Starfish smoked-salmon recall clarified: check this UPC, lot and date

The FDA page posted October 16 identifies one frozen sliced-salmon package. It is not the separate seafood trio: match UPC 4751048940099, lot D080-148 and the November 27, 2027 best-before date.

The FDA page posted October 16 identifies the Starfish Seafood product in this voluntary recall as Premium Cold Smoked Norwegian Salmon Sliced: a frozen, vacuum-sealed 227-gram/8-ounce package with UPC 4751048940099, lot D080-148 and a best-before date of November 27, 2027.

That precision matters because a separate October 9 Starfish Seafood Trio recall covers a different package, lot, date and state list. Brand name and package weight alone do not distinguish the two.

Match all six package fields

Check the full product name, 227-gram/8-ounce weight, frozen storage, vacuum-sealed plastic package, UPC 4751048940099 and lot D080-148 with the November 27, 2027 best-before date. The FDA notice lists Latvia as the country of origin. A similar brand name or one matching field is not enough.

The distribution list covers six states

The federal notice lists New York, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Ohio. News 12 independently reported the New York and New Jersey sale area before the FDA page showed the broader six-state list. A shopper outside those states should still rely on the printed identifiers if the product was moved, gifted or bought while traveling.

What consumers should do

The notice says not to consume a matching package and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. No illnesses had been reported in connection with this product at the time of the notice. The distributor’s consumer number is 718-858-6720, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Do not confuse it with the seafood trio

The separate trio notice covers an 8-ounce vacuum-sealed package of salmon, halibut and trout with lot D139149161-153 and an expiration date of December 1, 2027. Its state list is New York, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina and South Carolina. The two notices overlap in brand, size, packaging and three states, so the lot and date are the decisive checks.

Why the October 16 posting matters

Local reports on October 14 and 15 already identified the sliced-salmon package, but the FDA page posted October 16 supplies the exact UPC, lot, complete six-state distribution and refund instruction in one official record. The practical action is a label check, not disposal based only on the brand name. Keep a photo of the matching label and the return receipt.
