Red Wings erase two-goal deficit, beat Sharks 4–3 in shootout
Alex DeBrincat tied the game with 1:33 left, John Gibson stopped all three San Jose shootout attempts and Lucas Raymond supplied the lone conversion.

The Detroit Red Wings rallied from two goals down in the third period and beat the San Jose Sharks 4–3 in a shootout at Little Caesars Arena on October 17. Lucas Raymond scored the only shootout goal after Alex DeBrincat forced overtime with 1:33 remaining.
John Gibson made 31 saves through overtime and stopped all three San Jose shootout attempts. Detroit won a second straight game and extended its point streak to four.
San Jose built a 3–1 lead
Justin Faulk opened the scoring on Detroit's first-period power play, but Dmitry Orlov answered on a San Jose power play with 2:01 left in the period. Celebrini then put the Sharks ahead 2–1 at 4:55 of the second.
Ivar Stenberg converted another power play 2:48 into the third, giving San Jose a two-goal cushion. Celebrini assisted on both Sharks power-play goals and finished with three points.
Finnie and DeBrincat forced overtime
Finnie cut the deficit to 3–2 just 2:12 after Stenberg's goal, tapping in a Michael Brandsegg-Nygard attempt. Moritz Seider helped start the play and finished the night with two assists.
Detroit pulled Gibson for an extra attacker late. DeBrincat scored from the front of the net with 1:33 remaining, with assists credited to Viktor Arvidsson and Seider.
The penalty kill and shootout finished the comeback
The Red Wings killed an Andrew Copp penalty in overtime to reach the shootout. Gibson then denied all three San Jose attempts, preserving the tie long enough for Detroit to claim the extra standings point.
Raymond was the only player to convert in the shootout. The official team recap described the result as Detroit's first third-period comeback win and first multi-goal comeback victory of the season.
What the result established
Detroit moved to 3–3–2 and San Jose to 4–3–1, according to the official recap. The Red Wings also completed their three-game homestand with two straight wins and a four-game point streak.
Those results and the completed scoring sequence are confirmed. One comeback does not determine either club's season trajectory, and the article does not project future standings or repeat shootout results.
