Ratatan 1.0 is live: what carries over from Early Access and what does not

The full release adds Episodes 3 and 4 and arrives on Steam, Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Existing Steam saves carry over, achievements can unlock retroactively, but cross-platform saves and some Kickstarter rewards remain unavailable.

Ratatan version 1.0 launched October 15 on Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Episodes 3 and 4 add the final world and boss, completing the main story. Steam Early Access owners can keep their save and do not need to repurchase, but save data cannot move between platforms. The official FAQ also draws an important line between retail console availability and delayed Kickstarter console or merchandise rewards.

Version 1.0 completes the main story

Ratatan left Early Access on October 15. Version 1.0 adds Episodes 3 and 4, the final world, the final boss and the complete group of Dark Ratatan encounters. The release is available on Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official announcement calls this the full release, while also saying player feedback will continue to shape future updates.

Early Access owners can continue their existing save

Steam Early Access owners do not need to buy the game again. Their existing save data works in version 1.0. If achievement requirements were already completed during Early Access, load that save and enter Rataport after updating; the corresponding achievements should then unlock. This is continuity within the same platform, not account-wide progression.

Bonuses transfer, but saves do not cross platforms

Early Access owners also receive the early-purchase bonus after launching the updated game. Eligible Deluxe, preorder and Early Access bonuses are added to the inventory, with a title-screen notification. If the game was open when an eligible item was purchased, close and relaunch it. Save data cannot be shared between platforms, so moving from Steam to a console means starting a separate file. Console online co-op also requires the relevant paid online service.

Retail console launch and Kickstarter reward delivery are separate

Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S retail versions launch today, but the official FAQ says console versions and merchandise rewards for Kickstarter backers were not ready in time for the full release. That statement concerns backer fulfillment, not whether ordinary console storefront editions exist. Backers should wait for Kickstarter updates about their specific rewards rather than purchasing again solely because a reward code or package has not arrived.
