Quinn Hughes reaches 500 points in Vancouver return as Wild beat Canucks 4–2
Hughes scored and added an assist in his first game back at Rogers Arena since the trade, while Minnesota moved atop the Central Division and Vancouver’s winless run reached 10 games.

Quinn Hughes turned his first game back in Vancouver into a career marker, scoring his 500th NHL point and adding an assist as the Minnesota Wild beat the Canucks 4–2 on October 25.
The result carried several layers: Hughes reached the milestone in 520 games, Minnesota moved into first place in the Central Division, and Vancouver’s winless streak stretched to 10 games.
A milestone in the return game
Hughes’ goal made the night more than a reunion. NHL.com and Reuters both recorded it as his 500th career point, reached in his first game at Rogers Arena since Vancouver traded him to Minnesota in December 2025.
How Minnesota built the lead
Maxim Shabanov and Bobby Brink also scored, while Kaprizov supplied his 13th goal of the season. Minnesota created a 4–0 cushion before Vancouver answered, leaving little margin for a late comeback.
Where 500 points places Hughes
Hughes needed 520 games to reach the milestone. Reuters and NHL.com identify Brian Leetch, who did it in 496, as the only American defenseman to get there faster. The comparison describes scoring pace, not overall career rank.
Vancouver’s response came too late
Max Sasson scored on a breakaway and Brock Boeser added a late goal. Leevi Merilainen stopped 30 shots, but the Canucks could not erase the early deficit.
What the standings change means
The win moved Minnesota two points ahead of Utah for first place in the Central Division at the time of the reports. Vancouver remained at the bottom of the Pacific after extending its winless run.
What to watch next
Minnesota’s road trip continues at Utah, while Vancouver must reverse a stretch in which one-point results have not stopped the slide. Hughes’ next benchmark will build from 501 points after the goal-and-assist night.
