PlayStation Plus October catalog: nine games, four release dates and the tier breakdown

The October Game Catalog has seven Extra titles and two Premium classics, but the schedule is split across October 14, 15, 20 and 27 instead of one universal drop.

Sony has announced nine October additions for the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. The useful part is not just the title list: release dates, tiers, platforms and regions differ, so the catalog needs a schedule rather than a single availability date.

Nine games, but not one release day

October’s Game Catalog announcement covers nine games: seven in Extra, with Extra also available to Premium members, and two classics reserved for Premium. The practical complication is timing. Only five of the nine are scheduled worldwide on October 20. One title arrives earlier in the US and UK, one day later in Japan, while three others are listed for October 27 in the US, UK and Japan. The official post and two independent reports agree on the lineup; Sony’s own store-day note remains the final regional check.

The Extra catalog has seven games

The Extra list is Mafia: The Old Country on PS5; Horizon Forbidden West on PS5 and PS4; Mycopunk on PS5; Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 on PS5 and PS4; The Midnight Walk on PS5; Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition on PS5 and PS4; and Monster Energy Supercross 25 – The Official Video Game on PS5. Sony marks Horizon Forbidden West as a PlayStation Plus re-release, so its October appearance should not be described as a first-ever catalog debut.

Premium adds two classics

Premium adds Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition, both listed for PS5 and PS4. These are the two Premium-only catalog entries in the nine-game announcement. The separate Premium game trials mentioned later in Sony’s post are not additional catalog games and should not be counted toward the nine.

The calendar runs from October 14 to October 27

The Midnight Walk is the early arrival: October 14 in the US and UK, and October 15 in Japan. The October 20 worldwide group is Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West, Mycopunk, Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition. On October 27, Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2, Tales of Arise – Beyond the Dawn Edition and Monster Energy Supercross 25 are scheduled for the US, UK and Japan. This is why a subscriber can see an announced game missing on October 20 without the catalog necessarily being broken.

Mycopunk is the day-one release

Mycopunk enters the Game Catalog worldwide on its release day, October 20. Sony describes it as a mission-based looter shooter with four-player co-op and extensive upgrades. “Day one” applies to Mycopunk’s catalog arrival, not to every game in the monthly list; the other eight titles have their own existing or separately scheduled release status.

Check tier, platform and region before downloading

First confirm the subscription tier: the seven Extra titles are available through Extra and Premium, while Dino Crisis 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 require Premium. Next check the platform because four entries are PS5-only in this announcement, while five list both PS5 and PS4. Finally, check the PlayStation Store on the relevant release day. Sony warns that Premium and Deluxe lineups can differ by region and that streaming availability varies over time, region and country.
