No. 4 Ohio State beat No. 5 Indiana 19–15 in Bloomington, snapping the Hoosiers’ 22-game winning streak after the potential go-ahead catch on fourth down landed out of bounds.

The last chance ended at the boundary

Indiana faced fourth-and-4 from the Ohio State 27 with 1:02 left. Josh Hoover lofted the ball toward Nick Marsh in the end zone against an all-out blitz. Marsh caught it, but his left foot landed out of bounds, so the potential go-ahead 27-yard touchdown was incomplete. Ohio State took over and ran out the clock.

Smith turned fourth down into the decisive score

Ohio State led 13–7 early in the fourth quarter when Julian Sayin found Jeremiah Smith for a 38-yard touchdown on fourth-and-1. It was Smith’s 39th career receiving touchdown, tying the Big Ten record. Indiana answered with Marsh’s 19-yard touchdown and Turbo Richard’s two-point catch, cutting the margin to 19–15 with 10:30 remaining.

Four lost opportunities explain a four-point margin

Indiana’s defense intercepted Sayin twice, but the Hoosiers lost two third-quarter fumbles after going 1,437 consecutive offensive snaps without losing one. Kicker Nico Radicic also missed from 32 yards and came up short from 55. Those four empty possessions mattered in a game Indiana lost by four.

Sayin left with a right-arm injury

Sayin completed 15 of 29 passes for 235 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions before leaving after a fourth-quarter hit. Ryan Day said afterward that Sayin would miss several weeks, without giving a more specific diagnosis. Freshman Luke Fahey finished the game and Ohio State has an open date before visiting USC.

What the result establishes — and what it does not

Ohio State improved to 6–1 overall and 4–0 in the Big Ten. Indiana fell to 6–1 and 3–1, ending a 22-game overall winning streak and a 19-game home run. The result will shape the next rankings discussion, but this report does not project a future seed or postseason berth.
