Modern Warfare 4 campaign early access is live: who qualifies before October 23
Eligible digital pre-orders can play the Modern Warfare 4 campaign from October 16. The benefit covers Standard and Vault digital editions, while the full game launches October 23 and platform timing may vary.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign early access opened October 16 for qualifying digital pre-orders and pre-purchases. It is a campaign-only head start before the global October 23 launch, with eligibility tied to edition, storefront account and platform availability.
The campaign window opened October 16
Modern Warfare 4 campaign early access began Friday, October 16 for qualifying digital purchases. The benefit is limited to the single-player campaign; the wider game launches globally on October 23. Xbox Wire repeated the dates on October 16, and the Associated Press independently lists the October 23 release.
Who qualifies
Activision says players who digitally pre-ordered or pre-purchased either the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition qualify. The official list covers Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical copies are not included in that wording, so a disc order should not be treated as confirmed early access.
Check the platform and purchasing account
Install the campaign through the same platform account that owns the qualifying digital order. If the early-access option is missing, first confirm the edition, storefront account, download status and regional release time rather than buying again. Xbox Wire labels the title Xbox Play Anywhere, but that Xbox entitlement does not establish cross-store ownership on PlayStation, Steam or Battle.net.
Keep the date caveat visible
Activision explicitly says actual play time can vary because of outages and time-zone differences, and that platform availability and start dates can change. Early access is therefore a scheduled benefit, not a guarantee of uninterrupted play for seven full days. Check the official title page and platform status before troubleshooting or requesting support.
