Mochi Malrang dumpling toy recall: how to identify the water-bead toy and claim a refund
About 480 translucent red squishy dumpling toys are recalled because the water beads inside can expand beyond the federal limit. Here is the package wording to check, what to do with a match and when to call Poison Control.

LLK Trading is recalling about 480 Mochi Malrang Mystery Dumpling Toys because the water beads inside can expand larger than the federal toy-safety standard allows. A swallowed bead can create choking and intestinal-obstruction hazards and may lead to vomiting, dehydration, severe discomfort or death, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recall is narrow: it covers a translucent red squishy dumpling with glitter and water beads, a cartoon face, and a tan plastic container shaped like a bamboo steamer. The removable label says “SOFT and SQUISHY” and “MOCHI MALRANG.” Consumers with a match should take it away from children immediately and follow the disposal-photo instructions for a full refund.
The quickest way to identify the recalled toy
Start with the color and container, not the general dumpling shape. The recalled toy is translucent red, contains glitter and water beads, and has a cartoon face. It sits in a tan plastic container made to look like a bamboo steamer. On the removable package label, look for the phrases “SOFT and SQUISHY” and “MOCHI MALRANG.” The CPSC says the toy itself has no markings other than the cartoon face.
That combination matters because other squishy dumpling and bun toys have been sold in similar steamer-style packaging. A different color, label or seller should not be assumed to be part of this LLK Trading recall, but it also should not be assumed safe based only on appearance. Preserve the package or photograph the label if you have it, and use the exact recall description when contacting the distributor.
Where and when it was sold
The CPSC notice says the recalled Mochi Malrang toy was sold at Easy Wholesale in San Jose, California, during July 2026 for about $10. LLK Trading Inc. of Vernon, California, distributed the product, which was manufactured in China. The federal recall number is 27-006.
Purchase history is useful, but the physical identifiers are still important. A toy may have been given as a gift or separated from its receipt. If the product, container and label match the federal description, remove it from children first and then contact LLK Trading. The recall notice does not say that a receipt is required for the refund.
Why the water beads create a serious hazard
Water beads are made from superabsorbent material that grows after contact with liquid. In this recall, the beads expanded larger than the mandatory standard permits. If swallowed, a bead can enlarge inside the body, creating a choking risk or an intestinal blockage. The CPSC lists severe discomfort, vomiting and dehydration among the possible consequences and warns that the hazard can be fatal.
No incidents or injuries had been reported for this specific toy when the recall was issued. That is not a reason to keep it in use: a recall is meant to remove the hazard before an injury occurs. The safest response is to keep the entire toy and loose contents away from children while completing the refund steps.
How to complete the refund steps
Stop using the toy immediately. The CPSC says consumers will be asked to write “RECALLED” in permanent marker on both the red squeezy dumpling and the tan plastic container. Put the marked items in the trash, then email LLK Trading a photo showing the discarded toy and container. The listed contact is llktradinginc@gmail.com, and the remedy is a full refund.
Take the photo before the trash is collected and keep the email response until the refund is complete. Do not sell, donate or hand the toy to another family. If the container or label is missing, photograph the remaining item and describe where and when it was purchased when writing to the company.
What to do if a child may have swallowed a bead
Do not wait for symptoms before seeking case-specific advice. Poison Control says a person in the United States can use webPOISONCONTROL or call 1-800-222-1222; the service is free, confidential and available around the clock. If someone is choking, collapses, has a seizure, has trouble breathing or cannot be awakened, call 911 immediately.
Tell the specialist that the toy contains water beads and keep the package, recall page or a clear photo available. Water beads can be difficult to notice after they leave a toy, so check the surrounding floor, furniture and play area for loose material and keep other children and pets away during cleanup.
Do not confuse this recall with every dumpling squishy toy
The October 1 notice covers the LLK Trading Mochi Malrang product described above, not every novelty dumpling. The CPSC has posted other water-bead toy recalls with similar shapes and packaging, including separate squishy dumpling and bun products. The brand wording, color, seller, package text and recall number are therefore more reliable than a generic “dumpling toy” description.
If your product does not match but has loose or visible water beads, use the manufacturer’s exact name and packaging to search the CPSC recall database. A nonmatch to recall 27-006 does not prove another product is compliant; it only means this specific LLK Trading remedy may not apply.
