KATSEYE Makes Its SNL Debut With “Animal,” “Hootie Frutti” and a Dream Academy Spoof
The group performed two songs on the Season 52 premiere and joined a filmed sketch that turned its own formation-show history into the joke.

KATSEYE made its Saturday Night Live debut on the Season 52 premiere, performing “Animal” and “Hootie Frutti.” The episode, hosted by New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, also gave the group a comedy beat tied directly to its origin story.
In a filmed sketch, KATSEYE appeared as judges in a parody of the second season of The Debut: Dream Academy, the competition series that formed the group. That made the appearance more than a standard two-song booking: the show turned KATSEYE’s path to the stage into part of the episode’s comedy.
Two performances framed the debut
The musical portion centered on “Animal” and “Hootie Frutti,” two tracks associated with KATSEYE’s current WILD era. Current episode recaps identify both performances as part of the group’s first SNL booking.

The Dream Academy joke was deliberately self-referential
KATSEYE’s members also appeared in a recorded sketch as judges for a spoofed second season of The Debut: Dream Academy. The premise works because the real competition series assembled the group.
That self-reference connected the comedy segment with the musical booking. It let the episode acknowledge how KATSEYE was formed while giving the members a role beyond standing on the music stage.
What the episode adds to KATSEYE’s current run
NBCUniversal had announced KATSEYE for the Season 52 premiere as the group promoted the WILD EP. The completed broadcast now supplies the concrete milestone: two songs performed and a sketch appearance built around the group’s own history.
