It Takes Two reaches Switch 2: check upgrade regions before buying again

Nintendo’s October 15 download bulletin lists the co-op game as available. EA’s free-upgrade offer has territory exclusions, and Friend’s Pass does not give both players ownership.

It Takes Two is now listed as available on Nintendo Switch 2 in Nintendo’s October 15 download bulletin, published by WorthPlaying. Existing Switch owners should check their upgrade eligibility before paying again: EA’s announcement excludes Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan from its free-upgrade offer.

Launch confirmation is different from universal availability

The bulletin marks a change from the September announcement to a launch listing. It does not establish that every regional store has the same price, offer or unlock time. Check the storefront attached to the account that owns the existing copy.

Keep the purchase receipt and identify the actual edition before following an upgrade prompt. A store page, an ownership entitlement and an installed game are three different checks; a promotional headline cannot establish all three.

Read the upgrade exclusions before purchasing

EA says redemption requires internet, a Nintendo Account and Nintendo eShop access. The original Switch copy must belong to the same account; redemption uses eShop or an in-game offer screen on Switch 2. EA names Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan as excluded territories and says offers may change.

Those conditions make a worldwide promise of a free upgrade misleading. If the offer is missing, compare the account, original edition and regional terms before buying another copy. Do not change account regions or purchase an intermediary service merely to follow an unverified workaround.

Separate graphics claims from the multiplayer arrangement

EA specifies 1080p at 60 FPS in docked mode, alongside texture, lighting and loading improvements. A 4K television does not turn that specification into native 4K output. We have not benchmarked this port or established a handheld frame-rate guarantee.

EA also advertises crossplay and local GameShare, which solve different connection needs. Before arranging a session, confirm both players’ exact editions and supported route; a local sharing feature is not evidence that the same pair can connect online in every configuration.

Friend’s Pass is access with a partner, not a second purchase entitlement

EA’s Friend’s Pass terms require the free-trial installation and applicable platform account. One participant must own the full game for the pair to play the full adventure. The invited player’s access should not be confused with owning a separate copy or qualifying for the Switch upgrade.

Agree who owns the game and how the pair will connect, then check account and subscription requirements on the chosen platforms before paying. Our recommendation is an eligibility checklist, not a claim that we redeemed an upgrade or completed a crossplay session.
