iPhone Duo preorder estimates slipped into 2027—what buyers can verify now

Apple opened preorders on October 16 for an October 23 launch, but an independent check saw every configuration showing late-January delivery within an hour. That snapshot does not prove total demand or guarantee store inventory.

Apple opened iPhone Duo preorders at 5 a.m. Pacific on October 16. Less than an hour later, The Verge reported that Apple’s online delivery estimates had moved to late January 2027 for every configuration it checked. The phone is still scheduled for in-store availability on October 23.

The change is useful buying information, but it is not a final inventory report. A delivery estimate can move by color, storage, destination, payment review or cancellations. The public pages reviewed do not reveal how many units Apple allocated, so the delay cannot by itself separate high demand from limited supply.

Before paying or changing an order, confirm the date on the final checkout page for the exact configuration and delivery address. Treat in-store pickup as an option only when Apple offers a reservable slot, and review financing, trade-in and cancellation terms before switching channels.

What changed on preorder morning

Apple’s October 15 update set the preorder start for 5 a.m. Pacific on October 16. The Verge checked the online store after opening and reported late-January estimates for every configuration it viewed.

UOL independently documented that Brazilian preorders had opened and listed October 23 as the local sales date, confirming that preorder timing and retail availability are separate milestones.

A delayed estimate is not a complete supply-and-demand measure

The observed dates show that the initial online allocation available to those checks was pushed back. They do not disclose unit counts, regional allocation or the mix of demand and supply.

Apple’s own page describes ways to configure, finance, trade in and choose delivery or pickup, but it does not promise that every location or configuration will be available on October 23.

Check the exact order, not a headline date

Availability can differ by storage, color, destination and payment status. The date displayed at final checkout for a specific order is more useful than a general launch date or a screenshot from another region.

If an order is already placed, keep its confirmation and avoid cancelling until an earlier replacement is actually reservable. A pickup possibility is not a reservation.

Keep price and purchase terms separate from availability

Apple announced a US starting price of $1,999 for 256GB. UOL lists separate Brazilian prices and a retailer cash-price promotion, which are market-specific and time-sensitive.

Compare the final price, included storage, financing cost, trade-in conditions, return policy and delivery estimate together. This article does not predict resale value, demand or future inventory.
