iPhone Duo for Visible: What to Check Before Preordering

U.S. preorders start October 16. Plan the Apple payment choice now; confirm Visible compatibility on the actual phone before moving your service after delivery.

As of September 28, 2026, iPhone Duo is not yet available to order in the U.S. Apple lists preorders for October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific, with availability starting October 23. This is a purchase-planning guide, followed by the documented Visible steps to use after you receive a compatible phone—not a report of a completed Duo activation.

After the Duo arrives, do not move your line until the actual device passes Visible’s Compatibility Checker. For an existing Visible member, the documented handoff then happens in the Visible app on the new phone. If the IMEI is rejected, stop there and ask Visible for support instead of guessing around the check.

Plan the payment choice before Apple preorders open

For a pay-in-full purchase, Apple’s shopping help describes an unlocked iPhone and a “Connect to any carrier later” option for customers of other carriers. When Duo ordering opens, check that option in the actual checkout before paying. A missing Visible logo does not mean that you should select a different carrier.

Apple Card Monthly Installments is different from paying in full: Apple requires selecting AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon, and its terms exclude prepaid plans. Although ACMI iPhones are unlocked, that does not make the payment option eligible for a Visible-only customer. If carrier-later is unavailable for your chosen payment method, review a pay-in-full purchase or ask Apple about an eligible alternative; do not assume a lease has the same terms.

Apple separately says carrier-financed iPhones can remain locked until paid off. The U.S. Duo is eSIM-only. Buying an unlocked phone and having an eSIM-capable phone are both different from passing Visible’s device check.

After delivery, check the exact phone before moving service

Visible’s iPhone comparison page still labels Duo “Coming soon” on September 28. This is not confirmation of launch-day BYOD support or of any particular IMEI. If Visible compatibility is essential to your purchase, ask Visible before committing and review Apple’s return terms; the guide cannot guarantee activation.

Visible’s switching guide says devices purchased elsewhere must use its Compatibility Checker. Run that check on the actual Duo IMEI before you move an existing line or retire your old phone.

If the checker does not accept the IMEI, stop. The supported next step is to contact Visible or wait for compatibility to be confirmed; this guide does not treat a community workaround as proof that the phone is ready.

After compatibility is confirmed: existing Visible members

On the new Duo, finish the basics first: use current iOS and the latest Visible app, connect to Wi-Fi, charge the phone, and stay where Visible coverage is available. Visible also recommends backing up the old device before a switch.

Open the Visible app on the new phone and go to Account > Your devices. Under Switching phones is SIMple, choose Switch Now, select “A new phone,” and enter the device’s full IMEI. Confirm the checklist, complete the account-verification code, and let the app download service.

Continue through the iPhone eSIM prompts, choose your default voice, iMessage/FaceTime and data lines, and wait for either Success or Almost Done. Visible says the transfer can take up to 15 minutes. Then make a real service check before erasing or trading the old phone.

New Visible members: an Apple-bought phone is BYOD

An iPhone bought directly from Apple is bring-your-own-device (BYOD) when joining Visible, even if the phone itself is brand-new. Visible’s BYOD instructions require an unlocked compatible phone and then direct you to choose a plan and activate using the Visible app.

Visible’s iPhone help gives BYOD customers the choice to bring a number or obtain a new one. Follow the option shown for your BYOD order; do not assume you must first create a temporary number because another section describes a “new device” activation. If the app does require activation first, finish that prompted step and follow its transfer instructions, or ask Visible to confirm your account’s path.

Keep the previous carrier line active until the transfer finishes, and have the account number, transfer PIN and service ZIP code ready. An existing Visible member who is only changing phones should use device switching, not open another port-in request.

The safe stop points before you retire the old phone

There are three stop points: Apple checkout must offer a legitimate carrier-later purchase path for the way you are paying; the real Duo IMEI must pass Visible’s Compatibility Checker; and the new phone must actually show working Visible service after the eSIM transfer.

Do not erase the old device just because the new phone powers on or because an eSIM screen appeared. Confirm calling, messaging and cellular data on the new phone first.

That sequence keeps each company responsible for the step it actually controls: Apple sells and unlocks the hardware under its checkout terms, while Visible decides network compatibility and provisions the eSIM.
