Heavy Metal Death Can reaches PS5 and Xbox: check the price and PC ownership
Krufs Productions’ submarine horror game has reached consoles. The US Xbox listing shows $17.49 and Play Anywhere support, but an existing Steam copy is a separate storefront purchase.

Heavy Metal Death Can launched on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on October 16, expanding a game that had already arrived on Steam on May 28. The new development is console availability, rather than the first release of the game.
For buyers moving between Xbox and Windows, the useful detail is the Xbox Play Anywhere badge on the US store page. Check which store owns your copy before paying again: the program applies to eligible Xbox or Windows Store digital purchases, rather than every PC edition of a participating game.
What is newly available
Gematsu reports the PS5 and Xbox Series release at $17.49, and Microsoft’s US store independently lists an October 16 release for Xbox. The product page names Series X|S, PC and handheld support; match that device list to your hardware instead of treating “Xbox” as every console generation.
The quoted price is the observed US Xbox listing, not a guaranteed regional price or permanent offer. Confirm the currency and total in your own store before checkout. The earlier Steam release remains a separate PC storefront listing.
The horror design has practical buying implications
Krufs describes an alternate-history Swedish submarine in the late 1970s, fixed camera angles and scarce ammunition. Managing supplies is part of the intended design. These are the developer’s stated features, not a conclusion from our own playthrough.
The Xbox page labels the game single-player and Mature 17+, with violence, blood, tobacco use and language. References to survivors helping one another in the story do not establish a multiplayer mode. Check the actual capability field if you are buying a game to play together.
Where Play Anywhere ownership starts and stops
Microsoft says an eligible digital purchase through the Xbox or Windows Store can be downloaded on Xbox, Windows PC and supported Windows handhelds without another game purchase. Sign in with the purchasing Microsoft account and look in My Library or My Games and Apps.
A Steam receipt alone does not meet that storefront condition. Play Anywhere is also not permission to run the same game simultaneously on several devices: Microsoft’s FAQ limits a signed-in game to one device at a time. The badge concerns ownership and supported progress transfer, not multiplayer.
A short check before paying
First confirm the exact platform and store region. Next inspect whether the purchasing account already owns the eligible digital edition. Then check controls, language and accessibility information on the specific platform page; the Steam page’s information should not be silently treated as a console specification.
If you switch between supported Xbox devices, allow the existing save to synchronize before continuing and check the expected progress. This report verifies release and store conditions. It does not claim tested console performance, a console demo, or automatic conversion of an earlier Steam purchase.
