The Calgary Flames beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3–2 after Yegor Sharangovich scored the deciding goal with 4:28 remaining in the third period. Calgary earned its first home victory of the season and stopped Carolina’s seven-game winning streak.

The game turned twice late in the second period before Sharangovich settled it. Morgan Frost scored with 20.9 seconds left to put Calgary ahead, but Jalen Chatfield answered with four seconds remaining.

Carolina scored first, but Calgary flipped the second period

Jesperi Kotkaniemi opened the scoring at 6:09 of the second period. Calgary answered when Matvei Gridin scored his first goal of the season with 1:30 left in the period.

Morgan Frost then tapped in a power-play goal with 20.9 seconds remaining in the second. The goal came in Frost’s 400th NHL game and briefly put Calgary ahead 2–1.

A four-second response sent the game to the third tied

Carolina erased that lead before the intermission. Jalen Chatfield scored with four seconds left in the second period, turning a late Calgary advantage into a 2–2 game.

The two goals inside the final 21 seconds made the period decisive without settling the result. Calgary still needed to create the cleaner third-period opening.

Sharangovich finished the late chance

Calgary controlled the start of the third period, including a 12–1 advantage in shots over the first 10 minutes according to Reuters. The Hurricanes survived that surge and kept the score tied into the final five minutes.

Yegor Sharangovich broke the tie at 15:32, or with 4:28 remaining, when he converted a one-timer. Carolina could not find another equalizer, and the goal stood as the 3–2 winner.

The completed result ended one streak and started another home chapter

Dustin Wolf’s replacement Devin Cooley made 34 saves for Calgary, while Brandon Bussi stopped 31 shots for Carolina. The victory was Calgary’s first at home and only its second win of the season.

For Carolina, the loss ended a seven-game winning streak and produced its first road defeat of the season. Those are completed-game facts, not a forecast for either team’s next result.
