The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Los Angeles Chargers 22–6 at Arrowhead Stadium on October 18, improving to 5–0 and remaining the AFC’s only unbeaten team. Kenneth Walker III supplied both Kansas City touchdowns while Patrick Mahomes reached 100 wins as a starting quarterback.

Los Angeles fell to 0–6, its worst opening since 2000. The Chargers reached Kansas City’s 1-yard line early in the second half, but a holding penalty helped turn that possession into a field goal rather than a touchdown.

Walker built the first-half advantage

Kansas City opened with a Harrison Butker field goal, then Walker broke a 33-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. A second Walker score from 2 yards made it 16–3 late in the second quarter.

Butker added a 50-yard field goal before halftime, sending the Chiefs to the break ahead 19–3. Walker finished with 128 rushing yards and the game’s only two touchdowns.

Mahomes reached a career marker

Mahomes completed 23 of 30 passes for 272 yards. He did throw a second-quarter interception, but went 4-for-4 for 49 yards on the drive that ended with Walker’s second touchdown.

The victory was Mahomes’s 100th as an NFL starter. Xavier Worthy led Kansas City receivers with seven catches for 73 yards.

Kansas City’s defense denied a touchdown

The Chargers’ best chance followed a 57-yard completion that reached the Kansas City 1. A holding penalty stalled the drive and Cameron Dicker kicked his second field goal instead.

Kansas City finished with four sacks, an interception and two turnovers on downs in the Reuters account. Arrowhead Pride recorded Los Angeles at 0-for-3 on fourth down and five conversions on 16 third downs.

What the result established

Kansas City moved to 5–0 as the AFC’s lone unbeaten club. Los Angeles slipped to 0–6, its worst start since the 2000 San Diego team opened with 11 losses.

Those records and the completed scoring sequence are confirmed. One October game does not determine the rest of either team’s season, and this report does not project future standings.
