Browns rally past Ravens 13–10 on Andre Szmyt’s walk-off field goal

The Cleveland Browns beat the Baltimore Ravens 13–10 on October 18 after Andre Szmyt made a 37-yard field goal as time expired. His first try from 42 yards was blocked, but an offside penalty gave Cleveland another chance and turned a late escape into an AFC North result with wider standings consequences.

A second chance decided the game

With 22 seconds left, Deshaun Watson completed a 33-yard pass to Jerry Jeudy, moving the Browns to the Baltimore 29-yard line. Cleveland then positioned the ball for the final kick.

Szmyt’s first attempt, from 42 yards, was blocked. Baltimore’s Keyon Martin was flagged offside, however, and the five-yard penalty created one untimed play. Szmyt converted from 37 yards for the 13–10 win.

Cleveland’s comeback began after halftime

Baltimore led 10–0 at the break, while Cleveland had only 46 yards and three first downs. Szmyt put the Browns on the board with a 48-yard field goal in the third quarter.

The score stayed 10–3 until the fourth quarter. Cleveland did not need a barrage of big plays; it needed one defensive turnover and one composed final drive.

The turnover changed the fourth quarter

With 12:36 remaining, linebacker Carson Schwesinger forced Derrick Henry to fumble, and the Browns recovered at the Baltimore 22. Schwesinger finished with 13 tackles in addition to the takeaway.

Four minutes later, Audric Estime scored on a two-yard run to tie the game 10–10. Cleveland had signed Estime only five days earlier, making the tying score an immediate contribution from a newly added runner.

Quarterback context shaped the result

Watson finished 16 of 26 for 164 yards. Tyler Huntley, starting for Baltimore while Lamar Jackson was out with an ankle injury, completed 19 of 31 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown.

Those lines help explain a low-scoring game built around field position, turnovers and late-game execution rather than sustained offense. Cleveland also played through a knee injury to running back Quinshon Judkins.

Why the result matters in the AFC North

The win put Cleveland, Baltimore and Pittsburgh at 4–2, creating a three-way tie at the top of the AFC North. It also ended Cleveland’s three-game losing streak against Baltimore.

The standings impact is confirmed; the division order will keep changing as schedules continue. The immediate takeaway is narrower: Cleveland converted a defensive takeaway and a penalty-assisted second chance into a divisional win.
