Avatar Kuruk series announced: what is new and what you can watch now
Paramount+ orders Wave of Chaos and renews Seven Havens for Books 3 and 4. The two projects have different release status.

Paramount+ announced Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos at New York Comic Con on October 9, alongside a renewal of Avatar: Seven Havens for Books 3 and 4. For viewers, the important distinction is that Kuruk is an upcoming animated series without an announced release date; Seven Havens has already begun its first book.
The original franchise’s co-creators, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, presented the news at the panel. Paramount+’s official guide confirms both projects and supplies the current Seven Havens schedule. A new series order and a renewal are production commitments, not evidence that all of the new episodes are ready to stream.
A teenage Kuruk gets a separate animated story
Wave of Chaos follows a teenage Kuruk learning the four elements through adventures around the world, rather than following the customary path described in the premise. His encounters involve a demanding teacher, pirates and spirits. These are announced story ingredients, not a review of finished episodes or a reason to assume a particular adaptation of the novels.
Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios are producing the series, with Konietzko as showrunner. Panel attendees saw a first look at Kuruk and his companion Nikik. First-look artwork is different from a full episode or a released trailer; the materials reviewed do not establish a premiere day, voice cast or episode count for Kuruk.
Seven Havens has a current schedule, not four books available
The separate Seven Havens story follows Pavi and her twin sister Nisha. Its first three Book 1 episodes premiered on October 9. Paramount+ lists episodes 4–6 for October 16, 7–9 for October 23 and 10–13 for October 30. The last batch therefore has four episodes. Those batches add to 13, matching the official Book 1 count; they are not four episodes every week.
The first two books were planned as 26 half-hour episodes, 13 per book. The newly announced renewal is for Books 3 and 4. Paramount+ has not announced their episode counts or the release schedules for Books 2, 3 and 4. Do not multiply the first books’ 13-episode format into a confirmed 52-episode total, or read a renewal headline as access to all four books today.
How to follow the announcement without choosing the wrong title
To watch the current release, look for Avatar: Seven Havens in your Paramount+ catalog and check which Book 1 episodes your account displays. The platform’s announcement provides the rollout; local catalog availability and account access still need checking. The Kuruk announcement does not establish a Netflix release or a link to an already-streaming Kuruk season.
For Kuruk, the next useful checkpoints are an official release date, casting and a trailer or fuller production update. For Seven Havens, follow the remaining Book 1 dates and later notices for the other books. Keep those two timelines separate: you can follow a new project without treating its first-look reveal as a viewing appointment.
