Amazon plans more than €16 billion for Germany in 2027 — where €4.8 billion and 3,000 jobs fit
The plan spans AWS cloud and AI infrastructure, logistics, satellite broadband and Prime Video. The €4.8 billion Frankfurt allocation sits inside the headline total.

Amazon plans to invest more than €16 billion in Germany in 2027 across cloud and AI infrastructure, logistics, satellite broadband and entertainment. The package includes €4.8 billion for the AWS Europe (Frankfurt) Region and projects expected by Amazon to create more than 3,000 jobs.
The figures describe future investment, not money already spent or jobs already filled. Amazon also says it has invested more than €100 billion in Germany since 2010, a cumulative historical total that uses a different time window from the new one-year plan.
The €16 billion is a 2027 plan across several businesses
Amazon says it plans to invest more than €16 billion in Germany in 2027. The total spans cloud and AI infrastructure, logistics, the Amazon Leo satellite network and Prime Video productions. It is a forward capital plan, not spending already completed in 2026.
AWS Frankfurt receives €4.8 billion of the total
Amazon allocates €4.8 billion to expanding the AWS Europe (Frankfurt) Region and related cloud and AI infrastructure. That amount is part of, not additional to, the more-than-€16 billion headline. It is also distinct from the earlier €7.8 billion plan for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud through 2040.
Amazon expects more than 3,000 new jobs
The company says logistics projects included in the plan should create more than 3,000 jobs. That is Amazon’s forecast tied to future projects, not a current payroll increase already delivered. The announcement does not provide one location-by-location hiring calendar for every role.
The package also includes satellites and video production
The plan covers work on Amazon Leo, the company’s satellite broadband network, and new Prime Video productions in Germany. These lines explain why the total cannot be treated as a pure data-center budget. Amazon has not published a complete euro breakdown for every component.
Historical totals need separate time windows
Amazon says it has invested more than €100 billion in Germany since 2010. That cumulative figure includes many prior years and should not be added to the new 2027 plan as though both describe the same period. The next checkpoints are actual project starts, hiring and realized spending during 2027.
